Stage star’s home town pole dance date
Lorraine Hodgson, 38, will tread the boards at Preston’s Charter Theatre alongside ex-Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, who played Mandy Dingle, and lads’ mag favourite Abi Titmuss in The Naked Truth, a comedy about six unlikely women learning to pole-dance in a village hall.
Former Wellfield High School pupil Lorraine said she was looking forward to bringing the play to Preston – but a little worried about pole-dancing in front of her mum, Mary!
Lorraine said: “I’m always more nervous when my family come to watch.
“We had a six-week course of pole-dancing lessons in January which was hard work.
“I swear in the play as well and when my gran, who is 88, was coming to see it, I told my mum to phone her and warn her! But the play is all very tongue-in-cheek and it’s great for a girls’ night out.”
Lorraine first took to the stage while studying for a drama O-Level at Wellfield High.
From there she went on to do a performing arts course at Blackpool and The Fylde College, before winning a place at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she now lives.
Since then, she has won small parts in TV shows including Eastenders, The Bill, Holby City and No Angels.
Lorraine reckons The Naked Truth, which also stars Hollyoaks actress Julie Buckfield, has been one of the most fun productions she has worked on.
She said: “Everybody has been brilliant. You could not ask for a better cast and we’re having an absolute ball.
“Lisa (Riley) is wonderful and Abi (Titmuss) is brilliant in it and also really lovely.”
Mum Mary, 65, still lives in Leyland.
